Soldier, local babysitter charged for child porn

Fredericksburg resident Zoe Sophia Williams, an 18-year-old babysitter in Gillespie County, was arrested and charged with possession of child pornography on Friday, Oct. 20.

The Gillespie County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) discovered Williams had sought out child pornography via the internet and had taken pictures of children in her care. Deputies stated she allegedly sent the photos to 22-year-old Specialist Freddy Sanchez, a soldier assigned to the 69th Air Defense Artillery Brigade at Fort Cavazos (formerly Fort Hood), with whom she was in a relationship.

Sanchez is currently in custody at the Bell County Jail in Belton. A Fort Cavazos Spokesperson said Oct. 20 his commander determined that pretrial confinement was appropriate and placed SPC Sanchez into confinement.

“Williams would sometimes babysit,” a spokesperson from GCSO said. “If you feel that your child may have been a victim, have concerns, or have any other information regarding Williams, please call GCSO Deputy Investigator Bobby Blumrich.”

GCSO deputies and an investigator met with Special Agents from the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division Friday night. They were able to contact Williams at a residence on Los Cedros Trail and she agreed to speak and cooperate with investigators. Child pornography was found on her phone.

A GCSO spokesperson said the inappropriate acts with children originated with the soldier.

The investigation into Williams and Sanchez is ongoing and a forensic investigation of all electronic devices will be conducted, so additional charges may be filed pending results.
