Fredericksburg woman fatally stabbed by her husband while in Dallas

Hilda Gurrola, 34, of Fredericksburg, was fatally stabbed following an argument with her husband, Nov. 21 in Dallas County, according to WFAA News in Dallas.

The Balch Springs Police Department in southeast Dallas responded to the call, and Gurrola was pronounced dead at the scene by Medical Examiner Jill E. Urban at about 5:30 p.m.

“I just want justice for her,” said Gricelda Gurrola, the victim’s sister, “and for everyone to shout her name from the mountaintops.”

Gricelda said Hilda moved to Fredericksburg with her children (ages 13, 10 and 3) to live with family, away from her husband, Luis Prado, 38, two weeks prior to the murder.

“She couldn’t do it anymore,” Gricelda said. “He did not care about her and made her feel like an object.”

According to Gricelda, Hilda had received calls from Pardo to pick up her and her children’s belongings from his house in Dallas on the morning of Nov. 21. Hilda and another sister, Maricela, went to the home and collected items that afternoon.

Before leaving the house, Pardo called Hilda back inside to get a pair of shoes she recently bought, Gricelda said. Maricela heard muffled screams and ran inside. She attempted to pull Pardo off her sister, but he stabbed Hilda 14 times in the chest, Gricelda said.

Pardo fled the scene and is now in Zacatecas, Mexico, from where he is still contacting the family, Gricelda said.

“She was a giver, even though she didn’t have anything,” she said. “She would give the shirt off her back to you,” Gricelda said. “The hardest holiday is coming up for her children, but they’re strong and I admire them.”

Hilda attended Fredericksburg High School and received her GED in 2019. A GoFundMe account has been established at www.gofundme.com/f/ hilda-gurrola for donations for burial and funeral expenses.
